New Zealand National Rugby Union Team known as the “All Blacks” represents New Zealand in circuit of International Rugby Union Completions. All Blacks have rated well amongst the best in the world for over 100 years. The first New Zealand team was selected in 1884, for a tour to New South Wales. The team played its first match at home, against a Wellington XV. New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) was formed on Saturday 16 April. New Zealand Rugby Football Union or NZRFU was officially shortened in 2006 with the removal of the world “Football”.

New Zealand Rugby Union played an important role in organizing the first Rugby World Cup, which has since become one of the biggest sports events in the world and an invaluable source of income for the development and promotion of the rugby game. New Zealand was in pool C along with Fiji, Argentina and Italy. New Zealand won all its pool games, Flanker Michael Jones, the first player to score a try in the World Cup in the opening win over Italy. All Blacks defeated Scotland in the quarter final by 30-3 and Wales in the semi final by 49-6.
On a perfectly sunny June day at Eden Park, France's confidence was high after the great Serge Blanco inspired a magnificent, last-gasp win over Australia in an epic semi final at Sydney, but Les Tricolores couldn't reproduce the magic against a sublime New Zealand side. The All Blacks crushed all comers to reach the inaugural final and defeated France in the final. Rugby was still an amateur game at this stage, and the Monday after the final, All Blacks John Gallagher and Murray Pierce were back on their policemen beats. New Zealand conceded only 52 points and scored 43 tries in six games en route to the title, beating Italy, Fiji, Argentina, Scotland, Wales and France.
